Hello, my name is Amanda Drury and I’m a relationship therapist with over 13 years’ experience, based at Relationship Counselling Kent’s Maidstone practice.
I hold a master’s degree in Social Psychology, a Bachelor’s degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy and I’m certified to level 5 in counselling. I am also accredited with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the Gottman Institute.
When We First Meet
I pride myself on creating a safe, warm and calm environment to help you feel completely at ease. Approaching couples counselling might feel nerve-wracking because you may not know what to expect. Or perhaps you are unsure what you would like to achieve out of the therapy. However, please rest assured, after 13 years’ experience of working with couples, I know how to quickly lessen your concerns, by providing a professional, informed and non -biased approach to your unique situation.
My Approach to Couple Therapy
I undertook comprehensive couples counselling training from ‘The Gottman Institute,’ a renowned global authority on couple therapy education.
The Gottman approach helps couples understand their needs as individuals as well as a whole unit and identify areas for improved connection and communication. Many of us fail to see how our past has affected who we are today and how we behave in relationships, this approach helps identify areas of ourselves that may be triggered within the relationship and result in the breakdown of peace, happiness and unity.
Together, we will talk through the issues and collectively share resolutions without the use of blame or control. The ultimate goal is to foster a safe and trusting partnership founded on mutual respect and effective communication.
Common Problems Relationship Problems
Every relationship issue is completely unique to the couple, and everything is relative to your individual and collective needs.
No matter what is causing issues in your relationship right now, be it: trust, communication, infidelity or desire, we can work through them together.
I hold accreditation from the BACP and adhere to their ethical standards in my practice. Additionally, I engage in bi-weekly clinical supervision and maintain professional indemnity insurance.
