About Jo
Hello, my name is Jo and I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and an accredited Member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
As an integrative therapist, I draw on different therapeutic models because no single approach works for everyone. My focus is on tailoring sessions to you as a couple, supporting you to rebuild, repair, and strengthen your relationship. If separation feels like the right choice, I can also help you manage this process in the most respectful and amicable way possible.
I have extensive experience in couples counselling as well as working as a clinical supervisor. My aim is always to create a safe, supportive environment where you can talk openly, feel understood, and find practical ways forward.
I’m down-to-earth, with a sarcastic sense of humour and plenty of life experience of my own. Like everyone, I’ve faced challenges — and I came through them with a smile and, sometimes a few expletives (#counsellorwhoswears).
I believe laughter and positivity can make a big difference, even when life feels overwhelming. My personal journey is part of what drives me to help others through theirs, offering a mix of empathy, honesty, and encouragement.

Background & Experience
I have been working with clients for over 16 years, with six years’ experience working within the NHS IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service, alongside extensive private practice, and agency work supporting both couples and individuals. Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of challenges, including neurodivergence, betrayal, sexual desire and dysfunction, loss, long-term health conditions, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, and anger.
I am also skilled in helping couples explore how past experiences, early years, and personal background can shape their current relationship dynamics. Clients often describe me as approachable and down-to-earth, someone they feel comfortable talking to even about issues that might feel difficult or taboo.
How I Can Help
I will provide a safe, confidential space where you and your partner can openly explore your concerns and feel truly heard, fostering a foundation for healthy dialogue.
We will work collaboratively to identify and understand unhelpful relationship patterns, gently uncovering their roots to help you intentionally forge a more positive and connected dynamic.
I will guide you in cultivating profound emotional understanding, enabling you to communicate with greater empathy and navigate life's challenges as a stronger, more united team.
We will develop practical, evidence-based communication strategies, inspired by methodologies such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, to resolve conflicts constructively and lovingly rekindle intimacy within your relationship.
I will support you through significant life transitions or the complexities of separation, ensuring you feel understood and empowered to make choices that serve your well-being.
We will address specific challenges such as trust issues, infidelity, or intimacy difficulties with sensitivity and expertise, helping you to rebuild connection and mutual respect.

“Jo was helpful, and gave some useful advice and tips. Thank you Jo!”
“Jo was so helpful to my husband and I. A calm and rational approach which made us think about things differently. I had a couple of individual sessions with her and again, she was super understanding and suggested several things which have really helped me.”
“I highly recommend Jo our marriage counsellor, Jo has helped us communicate better, understand each other and work through some difficult times together. We’re so grateful for their support and guidance.”
“Jo was welcoming and picked up neurodivergance quickly to tailor the needs of us. She listened and overall it was a very positive experience. I would 100% recommend her.”
“Jo is incredible warm and friendly and understanding he non judgemental attitude helped so much , she is always available when you need to see her and her home creates a better healing environment”
“Listened to both mine and my partners concerns and points of view during our couples therapy. Helped to validate some of our feelings”
“Jo was so welcoming and put us at ease as soon as she opened her front door. The sessions were both challenging but also had a lightness to them that made you feel that Jo was truly invested and facilitated every voice in the room to be heard. Questions and thoughts were posed to us both to show she had really listened and giving an unbiased prospective and made the sessions very valuable. When leaving the sessions there would be a focus and work that could be done at home. I felt that Jo’s warmth and understanding allow the sessions to feel non judgmental and purposeful and would highly recommend her especially if you have not done counselling before or are apprehensive about going, she is very down to earth and not what you expect (in a good way). Thank you Jo”
“Jo was very welcoming and friendly. We only had 2 couple counselling with her but she immediately put me at ease. I would have happily continued the session but my ex partner did not wish to. I would definitely recommend Jo to others.”
