About Emma
Hello, I’m Emma. I am an Integrative Counsellor offering relationship counselling to couples, alongside individual therapy, with many years’ experience working across mental health settings.
My work is grounded in the belief that relationships can be a powerful source of healing, growth, and understanding, even during times of conflict, distance, or distress. I provide a supportive, calm, and non judgemental space where couples can explore their experiences, emotions, and patterns safely.
I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, person centred therapy, and emotionally focused approaches. This allows our work to be shaped around your relationship and what feels most helpful for you both.
We work collaboratively, to help you both feel heard and understood, even when conversations feel difficult. My aim is to support you in gaining deeper awareness, improving connection, and creating meaningful change at a pace that feels right for your relationship.

Background & Experience
I have over eighteen years’ experience working across mental health and counselling services. Before qualifying as a counsellor, I worked in a range of mental health and support settings, supporting people experiencing emotional distress, trauma, and complex life challenges.
This background has given me a strong understanding of how past experiences, stress, and emotional patterns can impact relationships. I bring this depth of experience into my work with couples and individuals, helping people feel heard, supported, and understood, even when conversations feel difficult.
How I Can Help
We will create a safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore your relationship dynamics and feel truly heard.
I will help you identify unhelpful communication patterns and develop more constructive ways to connect with each other.
We will work collaboratively to understand the roots of your conflicts and find effective strategies for resolution.
I will support you both in rebuilding trust and fostering deeper emotional intimacy within your partnership.
We will rediscover shared goals and strengthen your bond, leading to a more fulfilling and resilient relationship.

“We cannot recommend Emma enough. Me and my partner have had couples sessions together as well as individual sessions. All sessions have been amazing and I always left feeling like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. Emma has helped us both individually and also helped us transform our relationship for the better! From the beginning, she made us both feel comfortable, and never judged. She is very professional and great at what she does but she is also warm, friendly, and genuinely cares. With her guidance, we've both experienced huge positive mindset changes and have learned healthier ways to communicate, understand one another, and face challenges as a team. She introduced us to practical techniques, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and recommended books and resources that have helped us change our thinking, become more positive, and continue growing both individually and together as a couple. She also encouraged us to both journal our thoughts and inspired us to always consider different or alternative ways of thinking which has helped us significantly! Our time with Emma has genuinely been so beneficial to us individually and as a couple and we are so grateful for her support! Thank you so much Emma!”
“I highly recommend Emma Perkins to anyone looking for relationship counselling. Emma created a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where both my partner and I felt comfortable expressing ourselves openly. We attended both one-to-one and couples sessions, and she was equally supportive and insightful in both settings. Emma is an excellent listener who helped us communicate more effectively, understand each other’s perspectives, and work through difficult conversations with patience and empathy. Her calm and compassionate approach made each session feel productive and worthwhile. Thank you, Emma, for your guidance, professionalism, and the support you provided throughout our journey. I truly appreciate the positive impact you’ve had on our relationship.”
“Emma helped me to understand my feelings and how to manage them. At times I did not know which way to turn or what to do for the best or how to remain calm in certain situations, mostly freezing at confrontation. I had a lot of deep down anger and emotions that I had kept inside for a long time. Emma's therapy recognised what I was going through and supported me through the massive changes I needed to make in order to find myself again, she provided techniques to manage anxiety and helped towards finding peace. I have become much more settled and confident and feel able to speak my mind more freely.”
“Emma has really helped me deal with a lot of issues and generally has made a positive difference to my mental health and general outlook on life. She is easy to talk to makes you feel comfortable and makes you feel at ease even when discussing difficult subjects”
“Very helpful such a nice person only had one session and it’s completely made a difference and definitely will be coming back”
“I felt a real connection with Emma. We discussed a wide range & variety of understandings regarding individual experiences & relational experiences. Emma helped me understand & create a new neurological path in stead of returning to a traumatic painful path in a relationship. Emma helped me redirect & also resurrect my value, worth, peace & self respect over a 3 month period. Helpful mindsets, journalling & discussed what in my life I can & cannot control. I would highly recommend spending time with Emma - she’s fab. Emma was thorough & helped me with my recurring “but I don’t understand & why” 🫣🤣 every session I came away with a feeling of clarity, activities to work with for my future & finally I found peace, healing recovery & positivity… Relational turbulence breaking down, connecting dots, self care, wellbeing, focus, positivity. I realised with help, sometimes love just isn’t enough - you have to meet capacity, boundaries & communication half way. We’ve just celebrated our 3rd anniversary 🫣 wasn’t sure we’d make it 🤨 but we did. Understanding & help from Emma has helped but you have to put in the effort too - equally. Emma helped me massively & I am truly grateful for everything discussed & achieved. If I ever have to see Emma again - I will & I wouldn’t go/see anyone else. I miss our warm sessions in Emma’s cosy building. Thank you Emma, for everything.”
