    About Daniel

Hello, I'm Dan and I believe therapy should be a space where you feel truly heard, understood, and accepted. Relationship counselling offers a safe, supportive environment for you both to explore the root of your difficulties, providing an opportunity to speak openly and be listened to without judgement.

My approach is rooted in the Person-Centred tradition, meaning I prioritise your unique experience as a couple. Whether you are facing a major crisis or simply want to resolve issues before they grow into something bigger, I provide the tools and perspective needed to navigate your journey together.

In our sessions, we will work to shift the focus from individual fulfilment to shared responsibility. I aim to help you both understand how your actions affect one another, moving beyond intentions to create a partnership built on mutual respect and deeper connection.

    Meet Daniel

    Background & Experience

I am a BACP-registered therapist and hold a BA (Hons) degree from the Metanoia Institute. My journey into this profession was deeply personal; following significant life changes and the loss of my own marriage over two decades ago, I sought therapy myself. That experience of being truly understood by someone who had faced their own struggles inspired me to retrain so I could offer that same empathy to others.

I completed my specialist couple therapy training with Relate over 10 years ago and have since dedicated my practice to helping partners navigate relational challenges. My background allows me to bring a wealth of real-world perspective to my work, helping clients make sense of painful transitions and complex emotional landscapes.

I specialise in relationship counselling, marriage guidance, and LGBTQ+ couple support, alongside helping individuals manage the anxiety, depression, or bereavement that often accompanies relationship difficulties.

    How I Can Help

I'll guide you to understand how individual actions impact your partner, fostering a sense of shared responsibility rather than blame.

I will work with compassion to address and transform any unhelpful relational patterns, such as withdrawing or contempt, to halt destructive cycles.

I'll equip you with practical communication tools, including active listening and non-defensive responses, to enhance mutual understanding.

We'll explore and heal underlying family-of-origin experiences that might be unconsciously influencing your current relationship dynamics.

I'll support you in navigating how societal and personal narratives around culture and gender may be shaping your partnership's balance and expectations.

We'll collaboratively create a secure environment to rebuild trust and cultivate genuine intimacy through open and heartfelt communication.

“My husband and I had couples counselling sessions with Dan, and we had a very positive experience. He is very straightforward and gets to the point, while giving practical advice and clear structure to help guide difficult conversations in a more constructive direction. Dan is professional, supportive, and also willing to challenge you when needed, which we found really valuable. We’ve been using some of the techniques he taught us outside the sessions, and we’ve already noticed an improvement in how we communicate with each other. I would definitely recommend Dan to couples who are looking for practical guidance and someone who can help them communicate more effectively.”

“Both my partner and I (who don't agree on much!) really liked Daniel's approach. Daniel is good at reading between the lines and bringing unsaid things out into the open. He helped us have much franker conversations than we ever managed on our own.”

“I value every session with Dan, because it always leaves me with a sense of clarity and the ensuing "lightness of being." I appreciate the very practical approach, the fact that he is frank, and will not always tell me what I want to hear, but rather what I need to hear.”
