Couple Therapy Erith

Hello, my name is Claire Draper and I am an experienced relationship counsellor based at Relationship Counselling Kent’s Erith practice. I’m a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling Psychotherapists). I am qualified to CPCAB Diploma level 4 in a ‘Therapeutic Counselling’. I have over 9 years’ experience as a couple’s therapist and have built a solid foundation in a variety of therapeutic techniques

The first step into couple therapy

For some people starting relationship counselling can feel quite daunting. This is often because couples don’t know what to expect or are maybe unsure about what they would like to achieve out of the relationship therapy. However, please rest assured, I pride myself on creating a safe, warm and calm environment to help you feel completely at ease.

Our first meeting is about getting to know each other and building a rapport. I will take time to understanding your unique needs, expectations and goal of the counselling. Together, we will establish a relationship based on openness, trust and respect. There’s no rush, we will work at a pace that is comfortable for you both.

My approach to relationship counselling

I will actively listen to your thoughts and feelings without judgment.  I will help you emotionally recenter the relationship and unpick the details to help you find a way forward.  My confidential space which will allow you both the opportunity to explore the issues within your relationship, from your individual perspectives. You will have the time to speak and listen and to try and understand each other’s point of view and feelings. This will assist in healing any underlying resentment which might be bubbling under the surface and stopping you moving forward. Together, we will discuss your goal for the relationship therapy and help you gain a greater understanding of yourself and each other.

My aim is to help you both identify and communicate your needs and expectations more clearly.  I will help provide the right tools to help you both feel validated, understood and happier.

Ethical Standards:

As member of BACP, I uphold their ethical standards in my practice. I prioritise the well-being of my clients and engage in regular clinical supervision while also maintaining professional indemnity insurance. Your trust and welfare are of utmost importance to me, and I am committed to providing ethical and responible therapy services.
