Marriage Counselling Dartford
My name is Charlene Douglas and I’m a fully qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor based at marriage counselling Dartford.
I achieved my qualifications at ‘Birkbeck College’ and the ‘Highgate Counselling Center. Alongside being trained in couple counselling at the ‘Tavistock Relationship Centre’. As a result, I now have the relevant knowledge and expertise to help couples work through their challenges. Therefore, creating more connected relationships.
My aim is to create lasting change in the lives of the couples I see.
After experiencing a difficult break up in a previous relationship. I set out on a quest to understand how to create a harmonious and fulfilling relationship. I’ve sought to try and understand how two people, with two totally different life experiences, can come together to create something new.
I have over 15 years’ experience in various counselling-related roles. Alongside continuing my professional development by attending a variety of training courses. I’ve met with many couples in order to better understand the roles both men and women play in a relationship.
Couples who choose to come and see me at marriage counselling Dartford present a wide range of difficulties. Most commonly around ineffective communication, although issues around sexual desire and dysfunctions are also common place. My interest/research in psychosexual difficulties allows me to help couples work through such problems.
How I can help
I have a warm, down to earth nature and I don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Therefore, I tailor my sessions to meet the needs of each individual couple. I will work with you to explore the root cause of your difficulties whilst helping you both be honest about your true feelings.
My work involves a range of interactive, thought-provoking activities to help you to listen to one another. In addition to helping you feel listened to. I’m not there to take sides or to judge but to honestly share what I observe. That way we can work together to improve your relationship.
I subscribe to and work within the ethical frameworks of both the BACP and COSRT (College of sex and relationship therapies). My clinical supervision is undertaken on a monthly basis. Alongside my regular participation in continued professional development (CPD).
I hold professional and public indemnity insurance.
