Couple Therapy Bromley

Hello, my name is Michelle, and I am a fully qualified therapist based at Relationship Counselling Kent’s Bromley practice. Whether you are looking for support as a couple or on your own, I will help you explore the challenges you are facing.

I have been a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or over 20 years and follow their professional code of ethics. For the past 16 years, I have worked extensively with both couples and individuals, helping people just like you find new ways forward. Many of my clients have recommended me to others, which I am always grateful for.

In addition, I have also volunteered as a couple’s support worker, helping partners find new ways to navigate difficulties and strengthen their relationships. I provide a safe and confidential space where you can talk openly, feel heard, and take things at your own pace. Every couple and every individual are different; therefore, I will always tailor the therapy to suit your unique situation.

My approach to couple therapy

If you are seeking therapy as a couple, I will ensure you both have space to express yourselves and be heard. I will help you learn how to listen to each other with greater understanding and communicate more clearly. If you feel unsure about the future of your relationship, I will gently help you explore your options and find clarity, using practical tools and techniques to support you.

Often, improving a relationship begins with understanding yourself more deeply. By gaining insight into your own patterns and how you show up within your relationship, you can begin to create lasting, positive change. I will also support you in finding healthier ways to resolve conflict, especially when communication or expressing emotions feels difficult. Learning to speak from a place of feelings, rather than reacting, can make a real difference.

I understand how relationship challenges can affect your emotional and mental wellbeing. Investing in your relationship, and in yourself, can significantly improve your quality of life.

I work as a Person-Centred Therapist, which means the relationship we build together in counselling is central to creating change. My aim is to help you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward.

Background/experience

My journey into counselling began 23 years ago when I volunteered as a telephone helpline listener. I quickly fell in love with the profession and discovered I had a natural ability to hold space for others and their pain. This experience sparked a deep passion for counselling and led me to train and qualify as a therapist.

Since then, I have worked with people from all walks of life and backgrounds. I have extensive experience supporting both couples and individuals, as well as offering voluntary relationship support. I’m committed to providing a warm, non-judgemental, and accepting environment, and I often find that clients begin to feel more comfortable and open as the counselling relationship develops.

I have always been deeply curious about people — what shapes them, what they have experienced, and how those experiences influence who they are today. Rather than asking, “Why are you like this?”, I approach each client with the question, “What has happened to you?”. This perspective creates space for understanding, compassion, and growth, and is at the heart of the way I work.
