Hello there. My name is Tim Gilbert and I am based at Couple Counselling Tunbridge Wells. I have been a couples, individual and family counsellor for over 8 years. I hold a Diploma in Relationship Counselling and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. I’m also BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) registered.
Problems in relationships can be caused by a variety of different reasons. Therefore, in order for you to get the most out of the therapy, I will use an ‘integrative approach’. This will be from either a Systemic or Psychodynamic perspective. This means, I will explore what is happening ‘now’ in the couple relationship and develop an understanding of how our upbringing and past experiences define our relationships.
As individuals we are affected by our internal makeup and by external influences. For example, our upbringing, social experiences and how these affect our emotions, feelings and beliefs. Therefore, approaches to therapy are influenced by these two models in terms of what has happened in the past and what is going on in the present to yourself and as a couple.
I understand that taking the decision to come to relationship therapy might feel quite daunting. So, with this in mind, my approach is both empathetic and supportive. I will help you quickly feel at ease, listened to and most importantly understood. During the relationship counselling process, we will explore the problems at hand in order to develop a holistic and comprehensive understanding of your unique situation.
Relationship counselling usually employs a process of change. Therefore, it’s important that you both feel valued and respected whilst working through what that change may look like in your scenario. I will encourage you to determine your desired outcome. Then, through the building of bridges, help you develop positive communication paths so you are able to move forward. This process will not only improve self- esteem, it will also allow respective voices to be heard.
Perhaps you are worried that there is a possibility of separation or maybe there are disputes within the family unit. My easy-going approach will enable you to be heard and empowered in order to reach a more positive resolution going forward.
During our work together at Couple Counselling Tunbridge Wells I will help you gain a better understanding of each other’s perspectives. This will be achieved through a calm, non-accusatory, therapeutic process. A process where you will both have a voice and be able to work through your relationship issues together for a sustainable outcome.
I work diversely and have experience working with same gender relationships. mixed cultures, families and friendships.
I subscribe to and work within the BACP code of ethics and ethical framework. I undertake regular professional development to maintain a high level of knowledge and practice and regular supervision. My professional indemnity insurance is up to date.

My name is June Brogan and I’m a fully qualified couple counsellor and family therapist based at Relationship Counselling Tunbridge Wells. I have a MA in Relationship Therapy and I’m a member of the BACP (British Association Counselling & Psychotherapy)
My original training was with Relate, but then I acquired a diploma in Family Therapy and an MA in Relationship Therapy with Hull University. I have worked with couples and families for 10 years.
There are a number of reasons couples choose to come to therapy at Relationship Counselling Tunbridge Wells. Perhaps you have lost each other through a period of transitions and stress. Or perhaps the same arguments keep happening again and again and you want help to break the cycle. Whatever your reasons, it is of great benefit to take the time to have an honest look at your relationship, in a warm, understanding and confidential environment.
Studies show that unhappy relationships can cause physical illness and poor mental health, in addition to the negative impact it can have on the children of a family. Therefore, if you have reached a critical point in your relationship I can help.
We will work together to help you identify any negative communication patterns and behaviours that may have developed. Then work towards changing them for the long term.
Not everyone comes for help in making their relationship work. Therefore, if you feel your relationship has run its course and would like some help in separating more amicably, I can help you do so.
Together, we will explore the journey of your relationship to try and discover, from you’re your perspectives, when and why things started to go wrong.
My work mainly focuses on the current relationship issue. However, in order to truly understand where the problems may have stemmed from, we will take some time to explore each of your blueprints around love, sex and conflict. Which may include looking at the past. This can help to identify where any anger hurt or resentment that has built up may have begun. Resulting in you feeling cold or distant with your partner.
Often, in today’s busy world, other activities are prioritised above the relationship. Coming to therapy will be the first step in you both taking the time to re-invest in your relationship. Couple counselling will help you understand each other better and really hear how your partner is feeling.
Eighty percent of the couples I work with report a vast improvement in their relationship. Through my collaborative and non-judgemental approach, you will learn more about yourself and your partner. As a result, you will be able move forward more positively in the way that you choose.
I subscribe to and work within the NCS code of ethics and the BACP ethical framework. I also undertake regular professional development and supervision.
Alongside holding professional indemnity insurance.
