My name is Gaye Mitchell and I’m a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based a Relationship Counselling Rochester. I’m accredited by the National Counselling Society (NCS) and experienced in both individual and couple counselling along with family therapy.
I an Integrative Counsellor, which means I use a combined approach to counselling, bringing together different elements of specific therapies. I don’t believe that there is a ‘one size fits all’ approach for all couples in every situation. So therefore I tailor my style to suit each individual couples needs.
I do understand, that taking the first step into couple counselling can be quite difficult. However, rest assured, my approach is warm, understanding and empathetic. I shall provide a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space.
When our relationships go off track, it can lead to both parties feeling hurt and resentful. This then tends to result in one or both feeling less inclined to want to communicate with the other. I will help you both’really’ listen to your partners perspective and support you both in learning how to start communicating effectively again.
My work has been diverse and I have vast experience in working with mixed cultures, same gender relationships, families and friendships. I provide a non-judgemental safe, confidential environment where we can work through your relationship challenges together. I’ll then support you in finding a way forward that is agreeable to you both.
I subscribe to and work within the UKCP code of ethics and the BACP ethical framework. I also undertake regular professional development and supervision as well as having professional indemnity insurance.
